DEVOTION - FRI. 23RD JANUARY: SMITH WIGGLESWORTH, OBEDIENCE THAT BIRTHED SPIRITUAL POWER

A black-and-white inspired but modern-toned image of a humble early-1900s Christian preacher standing with an open Bible, radiant light subtly flowing from the pages, symbolizing spiritual power. The atmosphere should feel reverent, bold, and faith-charged. Background slightly blurred with soft heavenly light, no halos, realistic human posture, conveying obedience, authority, and divine glory.

DAY 23 — SMITH WIGGLESWORTH: OBEDIENCE THAT BIRTHED SPIRITUAL POWER

Anchor Scriptures

John 14:12
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

Acts 5:32
“And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.”

James 1:22
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Opening Thought

Spiritual power is not a product of noise, title, or popularity.
It is birthed in obedience to God’s instruction.

Smith Wigglesworth’s life teaches us that extraordinary power flows from simple, uncompromising obedience to God’s Word.

Reflection

Smith Wigglesworth was not trained in theological institutions. He was not polished by human standards. Yet his life shook nations with the power of God.

Why?

Because he obeyed God without negotiation.

He believed the Word literally.
He acted on God’s instructions boldly.
He refused to dilute truth to please men.

Wigglesworth understood a kingdom principle many ignore:
Power follows obedience.

He often said, “God confirms the spoken Word with signs following.”
But behind every sign was a life aligned with God’s commands.

His obedience was not selective.
He obeyed even when it looked strange.
He obeyed even when it cost him comfort, reputation, or ease.

And heaven responded.

In 2026, many desire spiritual power — but few are willing to walk in radical obedience.

Smith Wigglesworth shows us that:

  • Obedience activates divine authority

  • Faith grows when action follows instruction

  • Power is sustained by alignment, not excitement

New glory is released where obedience is complete.

God is still looking for vessels who will not argue with His Word but act on it.

Prayer

Father, I submit my life fully to Your Word and Your instructions. Deliver me from selective obedience and fear of men. Strengthen me to act boldly on what You have spoken. Let my obedience birth spiritual authority, divine power, and visible impact. I receive grace to walk in alignment that produces new glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Declarations

I walk in total obedience to God’s Word.
My obedience releases spiritual power.
I am a vessel of God’s authority and glory.
I do not compromise divine instruction.
Through obedience, I enter new glory.

Spirit Challenge

Today, examine your walk with God.
Is there an instruction you have delayed, ignored, or rationalized away?

Write it down.
Pray for grace.
Take one step of obedience today.

Power follows obedience.

Closing Exhortation

God is not looking for perfection — He is looking for obedience.
When obedience becomes your lifestyle, power becomes your testimony.

Welcome to 2026 —
