EASY AND FAST WAY TO GET YOUR TIN NUMBER

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Joint Tax Board (JTB), has now made it mandatory to link your Tax Identification Number (TIN) to all bank account. Effective from January 1st, 2026, no individual or business will be able to operate a bank account without a valid TIN.

The Federal Government of Nigeria decided to link Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) to all bank accounts for several key reasons:

Curb Financial Crimes & Money Laundering

With TIN linked to bank accounts, it becomes easier to monitor suspicious transactions and trace illicit funds, reducing fraud and corruption.

Improve Revenue Generation and Support National Planning

Oil revenues are declining. Nigeria is looking inward to grow its non-oil income and tax is a major focus. Accurate data from bank-linked TINs helps with better national budgeting, infrastructure planning, and social programs.

Android: Go to Play Store and download the JTB (Joint Tax Board) app. 

iPhone/iOS: Get it from your Apple Store.

On the app: 

- Choose “Individual TIN Registration” for personal TIN  

- Or “Non-individual TIN Registration” for business (requires CAC)

Enter:  

- Your BVN  

- Date of Birth  

- First & Last Name  

- Active Email  

- Other required details

🕒 Your TIN certificate will be emailed to you within 24 – 72 hours.

Visit the JTB website and follow the same process.

✅ TIN will be delivered to your email inbox,  visiting any office won’t be necessary.
