DEVOTION - SUN. 7TH DECEMBER: REST DAY REFLECTION — WHAT HAVE I ALLOWED TO MISALIGN MY SPIRITUAL LIFE THIS YEAR?

A calm reflective scene: a young person sitting quietly by a window at sunrise, journaling or thinking deeply. Soft morning light, muted tones, a Bible nearby, the atmosphere peaceful and introspective. Symbolic elements of alignment such as straight pathways or gentle beams of light, representing clarity and restoration.

DECEMBER: OUR MONTH OF DIVINE ALIGNMENT

Isaiah 30:21“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…”
Amos 3:3“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?”
Psalms 37:23“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD…”
Romans 8:14“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

DAY 7 — REST DAY REFLECTION: WHAT HAVE I ALLOWED TO MISALIGN MY SPIRITUAL LIFE THIS YEAR?

Scriptures:

Psalm 139:23–24

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Lamentations 3:40

“Let us test and examine our ways, and return to the Lord!”

Revelation 2:5

“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent…”

Reflection:

Rest days in our devotional journey are not pauses from spiritual growth — they are pauses for spiritual clarity. Today is not for pushing forward but for looking inward.

December is our month of Divine Alignment, and alignment always begins with awareness.

Before God corrects your steps, He first corrects your vision.
Before He sharpens your future, He helps you understand your present.

So today’s question is Heaven’s gentle probe:

“What have you allowed to misalign your spiritual life this year?”

Misalignment can happen quietly and subtly, through:

  • inconsistent prayer life

  • busyness and exhaustion

  • wrong voices and relationships

  • spiritual laziness

  • emotional weights

  • unguarded media consumption

  • compromise in small decisions

  • comparison and discouragement

  • neglect of the Word

  • surrendering to fear instead of faith

God is not asking this question to condemn you —
He is asking to realign you, restore you, and reposition you.

Sometimes we need a day of stillness to:

  • Notice what slipped

  • Identify what distracted us

  • Acknowledge what wounded us

  • Confront what slowed us

  • Confess what shifted us

  • Return to what matters

This reflection is not about regret but realignment.

You cannot step boldly into 2026 carrying the misalignments of 2025.
Today, let God point out what needs to change so that your spirit can rise again.

Prayer:

Father, shine Your light upon my heart. Reveal every area where I drifted, neglected You, or walked out of alignment. Show me the habits, voices, and thoughts that weakened my spiritual life. Restore my sensitivity, revive my passion, and realign my walk with You. Lead me back into perfect alignment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Declaration:

  • I choose spiritual clarity over confusion.

  • God is revealing every hidden misalignment.

  • My heart returns to its first love.

  • My steps are realigned by the Spirit.

  • I prepare myself for a stronger, deeper walk with God.

Spirit Challenge:

Take 15 minutes today and write down the top three things that misaligned your spiritual life this year — and the one step you will take to correct each one. End with a short personal prayer of realignment.
