“Have you not read…?”
(Matthew 19:4)
In one sentence, Jesus revealed one of the greatest secrets of successful relationships:
Before you form an opinion, before you make a decision, before you commit your life — you must read.
Jesus taught that marriage is not for everyone (Matthew 19:11).
Not because marriage is bad, but because marriage requires maturity, understanding, and intentional growth.
Marriage is not automatic — it is manual.
You don’t drift into a healthy marriage.
You build one.
You invest in one.
You learn your way into one.
Many enter marriage with feelings…
But it takes wisdom to stay.
It takes knowledge to build.
It takes understanding to thrive.
The truth is:
You cannot outsource your marital journey.
You cannot skip the process.
You cannot “pray away” the responsibilities that only wisdom can solve.
In marriage, you are responsible for your own growth — no one can do that for you.
This is why reading, learning, studying, and intentionally seeking knowledge is not optional.
It is a requirement for anyone who wants to love well, lead well, and build a lasting home.
And thankfully, God has blessed us with authors who have been graced to teach, guide, and simplify the deep issues of relationships.
