Haggai 2:9 – “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts…”
Isaiah 60:1 – “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.”
Psalm 3:3 – “But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.”
“And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee… And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.”
“And the things that thou hast heard of me… commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.”
“…Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit… and thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him…”
Every move of God has a mantle, and every generation must rise to receive that mantle. Latter glory is not only about what God gives you — it is also about what God trusts you to carry for the next season.
Elisha’s story in 2 Kings 2:9 reveals a powerful truth:
Mantles don’t fall on the lazy, the distracted, or the casual. They fall on the faithful.
Elisha followed, served, watched, learned, and remained consistent until the moment the mantle dropped.
Your latter glory may come through:
A spiritual inheritance
A leadership transition
A family destiny being handed to you
A calling awakening inside you
A responsibility God is promoting you into
But just as Elijah told Elisha, “If you see me when I am taken…” — revelation precedes impartation.
God gives mantles to people who are:
Aligned — spiritually positioned.
Faithful — consistent in the “small things.”
Available — ready to serve His purpose.
Hungry — desiring more of God, not just more of life.
Submitted — honouring the vessels God uses.
When God places a mantle on your life, He also places:
A responsibility
A grace upgrade
A new level of authority
A fresh assignment
Numbers 27:20 says God put “honour” on Joshua through Moses.
This is what latter glory often looks like — a divine handover, where what rested on someone else is now entrusted to you.
Your latter glory is not an accident. God is preparing you to carry what others carried, finish what others started, and rise beyond where others stopped.
Father, thank You for every mantle, assignment, and responsibility You have prepared for me. Make me faithful like Elisha, obedient like Joshua, and trustworthy in the eyes of Heaven. Let the mantle assigned to my life rest upon me fully. Empower me for greater glory and greater works. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I am spiritually positioned to receive everything God has ordained for me.
The mantle of latter glory rests upon me with power and favour.
I walk in new grace, new boldness, and new authority.
What stopped others will not stop me — I rise higher by the Spirit.
I step confidently into my divine assignment.
Identify one area where God has been calling you higher — service, leadership, prayer, giving, ministry, family responsibility, or spiritual discipline.
Take one bold step today that shows God you are ready for the mantle He is releasing.
