The moment Lianhua saw him, her world tilted.
Xuan Hao.
The name alone was enough to make her blood boil. He had once been her husband—the man who let her burn to death without even a flicker of pity.
But here, in this time, he was not yet the ruthless man she remembered.
Not yet the CEO feared by corporations and political families alike.
Not yet the cold demon who shattered her heart into dust.
Now, he was still a student. Young. Brilliant. Sharp-eyed.
And even more dangerous, because youth cloaked his cruelty in charm.
—
“Do you know who that is?” a girl whispered nearby, her tone breathless.
“That’s Xuan Hao—the heir of the Xuan family.”
“They say his IQ is off the charts. Some even call him a prodigy.”
“He doesn’t talk much… but isn’t he so handsome?”
Lianhua’s lips curved into a bitter smile. Handsome?
Yes, he was. With his perfectly sculpted features, tall frame, and an aura that demanded attention, he was every girl’s dream.
But she knew the nightmare behind that face.
Her chest tightened as memories flashed—his cold gaze watching as she begged for mercy, his silence like a blade cutting her soul.
Never again. In this life, I won’t kneel at your feet. In this life, I’ll make you kneel at mine.
—
Their paths crossed again in class.
The teacher had barely begun when the room fell silent—Xuan Hao had entered. His presence filled the space like a storm, quiet but suffocating.
He glanced briefly at Lianhua, his expression unreadable. But she caught it—the faint narrowing of his eyes.
As if something about her unsettled him.
As if he couldn’t quite place why this ordinary girl’s gaze felt so… sharp.
She didn’t look away. Instead, she lifted her chin and held his stare. For the first time in both their lives, she met him as an equal.
The corners of his mouth curved—just slightly. A ghost of a smirk.
But it wasn’t warmth. It was a warning.
The teacher, oblivious to the tension, began writing a complex equation on the board. “Who can solve this?”
The class went silent. It was notoriously difficult. Even the brightest students avoided raising their hands.
But Xuan Hao rose without hesitation, his movements smooth, confident.
His chalk scratched across the board swiftly, every step precise, every number flawless. When he finished, the answer shone like brilliance carved in stone.
Applause rippled. Admiration filled the room.
And then… a soft voice cut through the noise.
“That’s wrong.”
The room froze.
Every head turned.
It was Lianhua.
Her voice was calm, steady, and yet it struck like thunder.
For a heartbeat, silence reigned.
Then whispers erupted—
“Is she crazy?”
“She’s challenging him?”
“She must have a death wish!”
Xuan Hao’s chalk stilled in his hand. Slowly, deliberately, he turned to face her. His eyes, dark and cold, locked onto hers.
The smirk was gone. His expression was a mask of ice.
“Prove it,” he said, his voice low, edged with danger.
Lianhua rose, her steps unhurried, her every movement echoing defiance. She picked up the chalk, her delicate hand steady as she rewrote the equation, correcting each subtle mistake he had hidden.
When she finished, the board bore the true solution—clean, irrefutable.
The room gasped.
The teacher stammered, wide-eyed. “Sh-she’s right.”
For the first time, Xuan Hao’s composure cracked. His jaw tightened. His gaze sharpened, cold and unreadable.
But Lianhua only met his stare, her lips curling into the faintest smile.
Do you feel it now? The sting of humiliation? This is just the beginning.
—
As she walked back to her seat, her heart pounded—but not with fear. With fire.
In her past life, she had worshipped this man, only to be destroyed by him.
In this life, she would challenge him, break him, and rise above him.
The war had begun.
And neither of them would back down.
