Hilda Baci to Attempt Another Guinness World Record — This Time with the World’s Largest Pot of Nigerian Jollof Rice

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, is preparing for another monumental culinary feat. On September 12, 2025, she plans to cook the world's largest pot of Nigerian Jollof rice, utilizing 250 bags of basmati rice—approximately 5,278 kilograms—in a specially designed pot with a capacity of 22,619 litres. The massive cook-a-thon will now take place at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.

This event transcends a mere record attempt; it's a celebration of Nigerian culture, cuisine, and community. Baci envisions the cook-off as a cultural festival that showcases the richness of Nigerian food and music, aiming to feed over 10,000 people turning it into a massive food festival– thousands are expected to attend, with national and international media coverage already gearing up.

The preparation for this endeavour has been in the works for two years. Baci has meticulously calculated the logistics, determining that 250 bags of rice would be optimal for the massive pot, which measures six meters in both width and height.

Baci first gained international recognition in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, clocking in at 93 hours and 11 minutes. Although her record was later surpassed, this new challenge underscores her commitment to pushing culinary boundaries and celebrating Nigerian heritage.
